Parting of the Ward Boundaries...(5/5/2014)

Hello West Coast!
There might not be too much in the letter this week. There hasn't been much going on this due to the boundary change in the ward. It was kind of funny though, because this past Sunday was fast and testimony meeting.  Pretty much every testimony that was born was about how to cope with the boundary change. A lot of people were standing up saying "It's okay! It's of the Lord", "Don't be upset about it", "They are still our friends no matter what!", you know, that kind of stuff. It was good though because people were able to stand up and express their feelings, which I think helped them out a lot.
Also probably the biggest thing that happened this week was that Lauren finally came to church for the second time!  She told me a few days prior that she told her mom she would be coming to church, but I thought I was just another one of those "Pie crust promises" and then at the last minute ditch out type a thing. Well sure enough I went to go open the door for one of the members walking in, and right behind her comes Lauren! I was kind of surprised to say the least  Unfortunately she only stayed for Sacrament Meeting, but, Hey!  Sacrament Meeting is better than nothing, right?
While she was there I let her know about the boundary change and that she would no longer be in the Patuxent Ward and the missionaries would also be changing. I kind of thought she would freak out a bit and not really want to meet anymore, but she took it really well and seemed to be okay with it.
Probably the other major thing that happened this week was that Elder Fisher and I went to help one of the members with a service need. He recently bought a new home for him and his family, and he's completely remodeling the inside of the home. Our objective was to remove a big, old, honking tractor tire from his front yard. The problem was that it was filled with dirt because the previous owner of the home had used it as a flower bed. On top of that some of the young men from the ward were over there a few days prior and tried to get it out, but they ended up cutting one of the sides in half to do so, thus making it even harder to move the tire.
Well after about an hour and a half to two hours we finally got that thing out! It was great though because the young men bet us that we couldn't move the tire!  We had bet them that if we could get the tire out, then they would have to pass out three Books of Mormon. Well this past Sunday in priesthood after announcing the completion of the bet, we gave them the books to pass out.  It was awesome!
The last thing was kind of a shock to all of us.   Every Sunday morning at 9 am we have a meeting with the Bishop and the Ward Mission Leader to inform them of the missionary work happening in the area.  The meeting went as usual and then we made plans to meet with the WML after church. So you might imagine our shock when they announced in church that our WML was being released and called into the YM Presidency.
What we think happened was that the 2nd counselor in the YM Presidency (who doesn't actually live in our ward boundaries but received permission to come to our ward instead of their assigned ward) decided that they were going to start going back to their assigned ward and that Sunday would be their last Sunday with us. We think that they told Bishop maybe an hour before church started and he felt they had to call someone quickly to fill the YM's calling.  Our WML, Brother Wiest, was the one that they chose.
So, it is interesting, because as of right now we don't have a ward mission leader so were just kind of working on our own I guess you could say!  :)
Well that was our week this past week! I love you all and I hope you had a wonderful week as well :)
Love,
Elder Gold
