Hey Everyone!!
So this past week was pretty slow again. There just isn't anything going on right now. We have gone tracting, we are trying to work with members, and just talking to people, but no one has shown any interest.
We did however help a non member move into her home. This woman actually works with the First Counselor's wife at some fast food restaurant. Well they told us this woman would be moving from the Baltimore mission to our mission and it would also be into our area. So we went to go help move them in. Unfortunately, the woman wasn't home, but her husband and son were. So we helped them move the stuff in. They didn't have time to talk about the Gospel at that time, however, we'll go over again later and hope to catch her at home.
This weekend though was fantastic, but it didn't look like it was going to start out that way. . No one invited us over to watch conference. We even called a couple of people to try and figure out who we could watch with and dropping hints like "hey we have no one to watch conference with, would you happen to know anyone?" And they would be like "ummmm I can think of anyone right now, but if I do I'll let you know!" Ha. We're like really? Come on! At the last minute though the Hinckley's, (Sr. Missionary couple in our ward), asked the people they were watching it with if we could tag a long. Luckily they were nice enough to let us come over. So the first session on Saturday we just went to the church and the sisters were there as well. Then Saturday night we went to the Priesthood session with the Churchills. Then Sunday morning we went to the Frost's home and had a wonderful brunch and then watched conference. Then Sunday night we just went to the church with the Hinckley's and the sisters.
I very much so enjoyed this last conference though! There were a couple of talks that I really, really enjoyed. One being the talk Elder Bednar gave to non-members about why we, as members, are so anxious to share our religion with others, I though that was great! Then the other talk I liked was the one that talked about how members that shelter and stop their kids from playing with non members basically isn't the right way to do it. That while yes, that's a good way of keeping your kids safe from worldly danger, there are better ways of doing it than that. Just to add my input, I think it also gives a bad rep and name to the church and just adds one more thing to the list of why people don't want to join our church. I don't mean to offend if I have, but that's just simply how I feel on the matter. Anyway! I also liked the talk on the Sacrament. There were some things that I never really had looked at in that point of view before. It was enlightening :). So those are just a few of the ones that I liked. I didn't however like the voice over for the ones that spoke their native language. I honestly got the least out of those ones because I was too distracted by hearing both of the voices the entire time. I think if they had just done subtitles then that would have been great :). So I'll probably go back and read those in the Ensign later.
Today for p-day it was zone activity! It was pretty fun actually. We went to a local forest park and we went on a two mile hike! I love hiking! Ha of course we got lost a few times so it turned into like a three or four mile hike, but it's ok. The first time we took the wrong trail, but it would still, in the end, take us where we needed to be. Then the second time we got to a fork in the road and took the wrong one and walked for maybe half a mile and then came to a dead end. So we turned around and went back to the fork and took the other trail. That was the correct trail and we got back to the cars. Ha I think about it now and it was kinda the same story as Elder Hollands "wrong roads" Mormon Message. You should look it up some time if you haven't seen it.
After we were done with the hike we went to a near by field and played football for a few hours. It was fun though because we did the Greenies vs. anyone over a year, basically the Sr. vs. the Jr comps. Surprisingly we had a pretty even amount of people on each team. Of course the Sr. comps won. It was pretty sweet :)
Well I hope you have enjoyed reading! We hope to have a better week this week. I'll let you know how it goes! Have a great week ahead!
Love,
Elder Gold
