Hey Everyone!
Sorry I wasn't able to write yesterday. It was one of those "on the go all day" type of days.
This past week was another slower one. Just this entire week, everyone we talked to, to set up appointments, said they were were too busy to meet with us this week and then everyone we had appointments ended up canceling on us. So we had a really slow week.
Due to our lack of appointments though, we were able to catch up on a lot of family history! It was a pretty cool experience because Elder Bodda has been really getting into family history. He is a convert to the church, so he is the first to work on his family history. He keeps finding really cool things in his tree. Well from day one, he's been looking for a picture of ANY ancestor he could find. He has been looking for weeks and weeks and couldn't find anything. However, this past week we were doing family history and he found someone! He found a picture of his great great grandparents! He was pretty excited about it. It was a really cool experience for him.
We also, this past week, took two of the members from our ward up to the visitors' center! We taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ha! Well, we tried to. What we didn't realize is that the two of them are quite the "chatter boxes". So we would start on a subject and then one would go off on that subject and then the other one would chime in and then they would just start talking to each other and not listen. It was a good lesson, but it was pretty difficult to teach.
So for those of you who don't know, transfers are this Wednesday (9-17)!! I was really hoping that I would be transferred out because I have been here for a while. I mean not as long as Patuxent, but I wouldn't mind that. So Saturday finally came and the call out came with who was leaving and who was staying. I was so anxious! Not to mention I was already super tired, so I wanted to go to bed! Unfortunately, however, the call out didn't come until 10:30 or so and I was trying to go to bed at 9:30.
So we listened to the call out and I am leaving!! I'm pretty excited about that! I really needed the change of scenery. Elder Bodda is staying, but there were some complications with getting him a companion. He will probably be moving in with the ZL's for a couple of days (maybe up to a few weeks) until they can get it straightened out. Also for those of you who don't know, I've gotten into doing a lot of fitness lately. So instead of doing just small exercises I have actually been going to the gym. I really got into it because of Bodda. I'm really hoping though that my next companion will be willing to go to the gym. Ha I'm really hoping that my next area will have a gym!
On Monday Bodda and I went to the gym in the morning and the we were going to do another BBQ, but we didn't prepare very well and no one wanted to buy anything. So we ended up just driving around, stopping at thrift stores. Then we went to the Institute and played pool, ping pong and card games. It was a pretty fun day. I was just super tired after it all.
Well that was my week! Next Monday I'll let you all know where I went and who my new companion is! I love you all and I hope you have a great and wonderful week to come!
Love,
Elder Gold
