So we had a pretty great week this past week! The first off big news is about transfers! So Elder Summit and it are staying together in the Bowie area, but!! (the big but) The Sisters are no longer in the bowie ward! So we have taken on the sisters area as well. The ward was pretty sad to see the sisters go, but they are still excited to have us there :). It really has helped us in the long run though because everyone the sisters were working with, we are now working with. So there are like two or three investigators we are now working with. A few Less-active members as well. Unfortunately one of the investigators that was passed to us decided that she didn't want to meet with us anymore. She is studying with one of her co-workers, who is also a member. I asked if we might be able to join in with the studies and she still said no but thanked us for our enthusiasm in wanting to help her. She said if while she was reading the B.O.M and questions came up, she might text us and ask.
This past Saturday we were finally able to meet with the lady and her son (mid-late 40's) that we helped move into her apartment! This is the co-worker/friend of Sister S. They both work at Chick-Fil-A together. Well Barbara was moving into our mission and so Sister S. asked us to help move them in. We did and they were super grateful and then the son had to bolt. So about a month rolls by and we finally get an opportunity to go back over to check in on them on last Thursday night. We get there and only the son is home. He didn't recognize us at first, but we told him who we were and he was really happy to see us. He told us his mom wasn't home but that if we came back on Saturday night that she would be home. So we did! Last Saturday night we went over with the Sr. couple and they were home and let us right in! We sat there and talked and really got to know each other! Then right before we left, Elder Summit shared a scripture from the B.O.M and we started talking about what we do as missionaries. In the end we asked them if they would be interested in us coming back over to share more of what we believe. They said yes!! They seemed very interested in learning more! The only question that Barbara had was, that she had read somewhere that we don't believe in the Old Testament and wanted to know if that was true. We told her that we did as far as it is translated correctly. Then we set up another appointment for this coming Saturday :).
Then there was another older lady that the Sisters were teaching and we don't know if we'll be able to keep teaching her because she is afraid to get baptized due to health problems. The Sisters said she didn't say "no" but that she didn't say yes either. All she did was express her concerns about being baptized when she was so old. She has so many health problems that I guess could potentially stop her from being baptized. So the same night that we talked to Barbara and David we stopped by to try and contact this other lady as well. But, it was like 8:30 pm and so when she didn't come to the door we figured it was because she had gone to bed already. We'll go back can try and catch her during the day.
Then yesterday we finally had the cottage meeting!! It definitely did not turn out like any of us had anticipated. I will just say we won't be doing those anymore and we will leave it at that. It wasn't the best experience but I hope some seeds were planted.
Then today for p-day we went to the city! We took the train that stops right by the Capitol. No not the metro, we took the MARC train. It's all above ground. Anyway, we went to the National Art Gallery! It was super cool to see all the different paintings and stuff like that. That took up most of our day looking at everything. So then after wards we took the train back home and went shopping!
Tonight we have a dinner with a family in our ward, but we might have to take it to go. We have to be at the institute up in College Park for an FHE with one of the recent converts from the Bowie Ward. It is kind of a hand off so he can get comfortable and start going to the Ward he belongs to.
Well I hope you all had a wonderful week! I know we did! It was nice to finally be busy! Well I have to get going! I love you all!
Love ,
